Rounding to the Nearest Tenth

When you are rounding a number to the nearest tenth, it means that you want one decimal.

Enter a number of your choice in the box below and press enter to see it rounded to the nearest tenth.

How do we round to the nearest tenth? Basically, we look at your number's 2nd decimal and make minor changes.

If the 2nd decimal is 5 or higher, then we increase your first decimal by 1 and chop off the rest of the decimals leaving only one.

However, if the 2nd decimal is 4 or lower, then the first decimal remains the same and we simply chop off your extra decimals.

Also, if the number you enter is an integer, then we add a decimal and a 0 to make it rounded to the tenth.
